Eagles' Autumn Term Blog

What a great start to the year it has been in Eagles. Our Year 5/6 pupils have taken part in a wide range of learning, from Geography- where we looked at where everyday items such as our food come from- to creating still life pieces and “art in motion” in Art, using different media. In History, we learned about the development of the British railways and began the topic with a short trip on a “train”, which the children thoroughly enjoyed. In Science, we explored space as well as learning about inheritance and evolution, and in Computing we designed and created our own webpages. As we moved towards the end of term, the children also took part in a variety of Christmas crafts and activities including the fantastic trip to the panto to see Jack and the Beanstalk. It has been a busy term with lots of effort and thoughtful work across the curriculum.
We also went on our class residential to Leeson House. The children developed their independence by making their beds, clearing up after meals and cleaning their rooms before departure. They took part in activities such as orienteering, map work, team games, geology and pond dipping, where two newts were found. We finished the visit with a scavenger hunt along Studland beach as we walked to Fort Henry, making it a memorable experience for everyone. All children had a fantastic time and were a credit to the school as they represented Hazelbury so well.
We are now looking forward to the term ahead and the new learning opportunities it will bring.
