Welly walk in the frost

We had the BEST morning in this gorgeous weather. The children and I popped on our wellies for a walk in the frost around the school grounds. The children were fascinated by the little sparkles of frost and ice. We made marks in our frozen mirror, looked at the speckles of frost on the fence, gate, grass and plants. As we walked across  the field we looked at the footprints we had made and watched the last few leaves fall from the big, tall trees. The children used words such as sparkly, crunch, munch, crackle, crack, ice, cold, frosty, frozen, hot, melt, hard, soft and glisten. After spending quite a while exploring, we became a little chilly so went back to class to warm ourselves up. What a wonderful morning.
