Owls Summer Fun 2026

What an amazing and fun filled term we have had. Throughout the Summer term, Owls class have enjoyed learning about ‘Magnificent Minibeasts,’ and ‘Roarsome Dinosaurs.’ We have had some wonderful activities to support our learning and make it purposeful such as in ‘Magnificent Minibeasts,’ the children have learnt about different life cycles, watching ladybird larvae change and develop into ladybirds, and through watching the process of metamorphosis as caterpillars changed into butterflies.
Through ‘Roarsome Dinosaurs’ the children have enjoyed becoming dinosaur explorers in our role play area, learning about the different types of dinosaurs and loved our explosive volcano science experiment. They have made their own ‘That’s not my dinosaur’ books applying all of their phonics knowledge to write simple descriptive sentences, written facts about dinosaurs and found tricky words on dinosaur bones. In maths, the children have explored subtraction by creating subtraction stories, doubled and halved, and investigated odd and even numbers.
We have certainly made the most of this beautiful weather and spent lots of time outside during Bikeability and P.E. We have had lots of opportunities to cool off in our wonderful swimming pool. It has been amazing to see the progress the children have made in both their confidence and their skills within the water. Well done little fish!
In addition to all of this, the children, and staff thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to be rock stars for the day when we had a visit from Rock Kidz. The children participated brilliantly and demonstrated great sportsmanship during Sports Day and the Colour Run was a great success. Boogie Bounce was enjoyed by all and we welcomed a wonderful visit from our local fire service in which the children were thrilled to see the fire engine up close and learn about lots of the essential tools and equipment on board and all about the important work firefighters do. Everyone had the opportunity to climb into the fire engine and explore inside. The highlight of the visit was getting to use the fire hose to squirt water, which brought lots of excitement and smiles!
A fantastic Summer term, well done Owls. You have all been amazing and it has been a pleasure to watch you grow and progress.
