A very Christmassy week in Owls - 4.12.23

We have been busy putting the finishing touches to our nativity play this week and are so excited about you seeing it next week. The children were so excited to have their first go on the stage this week!  Thank you for all your hard work providing costumes for the children, they look fantastic!

In maths this week we have been practising our counting skills. We have been doing this through playing all sorts of different games including 'who can build the tallest tower?' and 'who can fill the Christmas picture the quickest by rolling the dice'.  The children's mathematical skills have improved so much this term, we are very proud of them, well done Owls!

In Phonics this week, the children have been consolidating the range of sounds that we have learnt over the Autumn term. They have used this knowledge to write name suggestions for the elf and to match Christmas words to pictures as well as writing letters to Santa. Additionally to develop the children's fine motor control and scissor skills, they have been cutting out snowmen parts and putting pieces of a Christmas picture in the missing spaces. They have enjoyed using the interactive whiteboard to make patterned Christmas jumpers and in the construction area, the made sleighs or vehicles for the elves to ride in or Santa, of course. 

In Forest School, the children worked together to explore the natural area, gather sticks, decorate them and make a giant star which we proudly displayed in our classroom. 

We also had our annual Christmas service in Church, the children sang beautifully and were beautifully behaved, listening to the service and taking part. They loved looking at the features of the church and always have lots of great questions.
